Sunday Grace

It was my turn today to co-teach Sunday school at church. I had a new partner, and I fear I made a bad impression, rolling in 5 minutes before the students. It’s allergy season so I’m blaming Benadryl for my tardiness.  Oh yeah, and my kids.

“Hi, I’m Patrick,” he said, extending for a hand shake. I explained my worries about not being prepared and he gently told me “Oh, you’re just here as my assistant today, I’ve got it,I know the lesson well. ”

At  first I felt a little miffed but then I accepted it. I could be a classroom teacher “undercover”, he didn’t know what I did for a living. “Stop being so defensive, let it go,” I told my ego.  I deserved the grace from being in charge just this one day.

  1. I loved the ending: “I deserved the grace from being in charge just this one day.” This is something I learned after I had kids, I do know a lot about kids and management of them, it’s okay if I learn from others too! Hope everything turned out well and your co-teacher had everything under control.
