No Wonder

“No wonder you’re exhausted!” she exclaimed.

“Your husband lost his job, he’s had countless medical issues and surgeries all year, you started a new job at a new school, you have venomous parents and coworkers who challenge you at every turn, you have two young children at home, you work more than one teaching job around the city, your best friends are moving away…”

Well, when she put it that way, I took a deep breath, and felt my eyes well up.

I’m holding onto hope that things will get better.  I’m trying to be open to change and possibility, connection with other positive women, dance, yoga, cleaner eating.  I’m finding joy at the start of rummage sale season, the bulbs blooming in my yard, the promise of summer swim lessons and camping trips, and ice cold beer in the backyard, my feet in the baby pool, the hummingbirds flying all around.

No wonder!
